Join in the celebrations March 9-15, 2013 as the San Francisco State University community marks the investiture of the University’s 13th President, Leslie E. Wong.
Activities throughout the week will focus on accelerating progress on campus, as we celebrate new momentum for a new era. Scheduled activities include a day of community service on March 9, the XLR8@SF State 5K walk/run around campus on Sunday, March 10, a faculty/student research panel and reception on March 11, special theatre performance on March 12 and lecture by Kevin Starr, Professor of History at USC and California Librarian Emeritus, on March 13.
The formal investiture ceremony will take place Thursday, March 14 at 2 p.m. in McKenna Theatre. Prior to the ceremony, students will join with faculty and staff in the quad and Cesar Chavez Student Center for special celebration activities. A reception for all, following the investiture ceremony, will be held in Jack Adams Hall beginning at 4:15 p.m.
Two events on Friday, March 15 cap off the week. A celebration dinner for alumni and friends of the University will be held in the heart of downtown San Francisco at the historic Julia Morgan Ballroom. The dinner will honor both President Wong’s investiture and the induction of exemplary alumni into the SF State Alumni Hall of Fame.
Following the dinner on March 15, President and Mrs. Wong return to campus for late-night dancing with students at the “Noise Complaint” dance party.
